Thunderprop the ultimate warbird experience

The Ultimate Warbird Experience

Firstly, we will welcome you to Shoreham Airport and our comfortable offices, where your family and friends can relax with a view over the airfield.

You will then meet your Instructor. All of our Instructors are experienced and friendly. They fly vintage aircraft because of their passion and enthusiasm for these aeroplanes-they want you to get the maximum enjoyment from your flight.

All of our customers will then take part in a safety briefing. Our aim is to introduce you to a classic Second World War aircraft in a safe environment, which will enable you and your guests to enjoy the experience fully.

If you are already a pilot, or if you want to have more information on the flight, your Instructor will provide you with a more detailed pre-flight briefing, which may include:

• Principles of flight, with a brief description of the controls of the aircraft.
• Aircraft technical, including a brief description of systems and drills that we undertake during the flight.
• The weather conditions for the flight.
• Navigation, and information regarding the area over which we shall fly. You may wish to fly over your home, or an area you know.

We provide you with a flying suit and helmet, and, if you wish, a pre flight coffee or tea before the walk out to our aircraft. You may choose to join your Instructor in the pre-flight walkround. Climbing into the aircraft presents no problems, as our excellent ground crew are always on hand to assist.

Strapped in, we shall give you an introduction to the cockpit and instruments, so that you will be able to understand what your Instructor is describing to you over the intercom during the flight, and the pilot's "clock code", a means to describe where to look outside of the aircraft when airborne.

With the engine started, you will listen in to Air Traffic Control transmissions as we taxy to the runway and complete our pre-flight checks. With a final check to make sure the runway is clear, you will line up for takeoff…and now the excitement really starts!
